About me
My interest in counselling started when I went into counselling myself during a mid-life crisis some years ago. It helped me turn my life around, and so I decided to retrain as a counsellor. I have never regretted that decision. Apart from being living proof that counselling can work, I believe that as a unique human being, by learning about ourselves and by looking at unresolved issues, change can occur if we become more of who we are. I am fully committed to support my clients to move towards that.I was born and grew up in Sweden, where I also trained as a teacher. Since then the UK has always been my main base but I have lived and worked in other countries mainly in the Middle East and South East Asia. I therefore have a very good understanding about living and working in different cultures and managing change and transition.
About my qualifications
I hold a Diploma in Counselling from Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC), and I am accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My main qualification is in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling H.I.C. * with additional training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Meridian Therapies, Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Couples Counselling.I am committed to ongoing professional and personal development, and I am a member of the Training Committee and also a Trustee at the Bath Centre of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BCPC).
As an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am bound by their Code of Ethics and Practice.
* In very broad terms this type of therapeutic training means that the theories and practice from several schools of thought are integrated. From the humanistic approach a core belief I adhere to is the conviction that people are naturally healthy if given the right conditions, and from the psychoanalytic standpoint, it is their concern with human development and the childhood patterns that affect us in the present that forms another underpinning of my work.
